CITY OF GENERAL TRIAS — The local government here has intensified the fight against dengue disease following a launch on Monday, March 10, of a Dengue Prevention and Control Campaign at Navarro Elementary School in Barangay Navarro.

The city has been alarmed by the increase in dengue cases in the area, which reached 479 cases, or 343.52 percent compared to last year's data, according to morbidity week 1 to 11 of this year and last year 2024 (108 cases).
The Department of Education here, school officials and student leaders collaborated in the project launch, where anti-dengue supplies such as olyset nets, spray cans, chemicals and boxes of off lotion were distributed to all students.
According to Mayor Ferrer, this is not the only step they are taking to fight dengue, as their fogging team is constantly going around every barangay to eliminate the mosquito carrier out of their breeding grounds.

"We are also continuing to communicate with each barangay through Barangay Health Workers (BHW) in information dissemination regarding dengue prevention and proper cleaning of areas that are potential breeding grounds for dengue-carrying mosquitoes," said Mayor Luis Ferrer IV in an interview.
Based on the data released by Cavite Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit, there are 20 cases of dengue in Barangay San Francisco, 19 cases in Navarro, 12 in Pasong Kawayan 2, 11 cases in Bacao 2, 11 cases in Pasong Camachile 2, eight in Santiago, seven each in Bacao 1, Tejero, Biclatan and Pasong Camachile 1.
