When the African Swine Fever (ASF) first hit the Philippines in 2019, it didn’t just decrease pig populations, it also destabilized the livelihoods of thousands of small-scale farmers. With nearly 50% of the country’s hog population affected and billions in pesos lost, the swine industry continues to grapple with recovery years later.
In the heart of this struggle, many farmers chose not to give up. They adapted. They learned. Many found strength in a new kind of partnership with Inoza Feeds, the feed and animal nutrition brand under the Bounty Fresh Group Holdings Inc.
This Labor Day, Inoza Feeds honors the backbone of the country’s food systems: the local farmers. Through their galing — skill, persistence, and heart — and the lakas or strength of performance-driven solutions like Inoza’s Hog Line, they’re not just bouncing back. They’re building a stronger future for Philippine agriculture.
Designed with Filipino farmers in mind, the Inoza Pro Hog Feeds line, including Platinum, Gold, and Silver, delivers targeted nutrition to support every stage of swine production, whether for backyard raisers or large-scale commercial farms. From piglets to finishers, Inoza Pro Feeds are crafted to meet the evolving needs of today’s hog raisers, helping them achieve healthier animals, better growth rates, and stronger farm performance.
From two sows to a stronger future

In Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay, husband-and-wife farmers Carlito and Elizabeth Pacheco started with just two sows in 2019, hoping to earn extra income. “Na-engganyo kami dahil nakita naming may kita sa pag-aalaga ng baboy. (We were encouraged because we saw that raising pigs could be a good source of income),” said Elizabeth.
Like many, they struggled at first, especially with little knowledge of hog raising. But through hands-on learning, and with the help of Inoza Pro Platinum, things turned around. “Mas mabilis lumaki ang baboy, hindi mabaho ang kulungan, at maraming gatas ang inahin. (The pigs grew faster, the pens weren’t smelly, and the sows produced plenty of milk),” said Carlito.
With a relatively minimal expense on feed per pig, their hogs now grow to over 120 kilos in just 150 days. This gave them better income, stability, and education for their children, one of whom just finished a degree in Business Administration.
“Proud kami dahil sa aming pagsisikap, naitaguyod namin ang pamilya at napag-aral ang aming mga anak. (We’re proud because through hard work, we supported our family and sent our children to school),” said Carlito.
A husband’s promise, a new beginning

For Michael Bolante from Budiong, Odiongan, Romblon, hog farming wasn’t just a business decision; it was a promise. After years of working abroad, his wife wanted to come home for good.
Together, they revived a dream started by his father: a family-run piggery. Like many newcomers, they faced challenges, especially with sick piglets. Things changed when they switched to Inoza Pro Hog Feeds. “Hindi na nagatatae ang mga biik. (Since we started using Inoza Pro Hog Feeds, our piglets no longer get diarrhea),” he said.
Their first batch of 12 piglets thrived and buyers quickly lined up. “Naging lakas namin si Inoza. Mula pagpapa-anak hanggang pagbebenta, may alalay talaga. (Inoza became our strength, from farrowing to selling, they supported us all the way),” added Michael.
He now proudly claims hog farming as an honorable livelihood that lets families earn, save, and grow together.
A second chance at success

Meanwhile, Bryan Camson from Gabawan, Odiongan, Romblon, represents the new generation of hog raisers who learned from early mistakes and found a better way forward.
“Nagsimula kami sa dalawang baboy pero tumigil. Nag-try ulit mag-alaga, pero tumigil ulit nang matagal. (We started with two pigs but stopped. We tried raising again but paused for a long time),” said Bryan.
Encouraged by a churchmate who was also willing to invest, Bryan gave pig farming one last try and found success with Inoza Pro Hog Feeds. “Binisita kami ng technician ng Inoza at tinuruan kami ng tamang proseso. (An Inoza technician visited us and taught us the right methods),” he said.
After switching to Inoza Pro Hog Feeds, Bryan noticed a major difference. “Sa dati kasi malalaki tingnan ang mga baboy pero hindi pala siksik sa laman. (Before, the pigs looked big, but they weren’t actually meaty),” he said.
“Ngayon, kahit di po kami sigurado sa lahi ng mga alaga namin, kahit mapapayat at maliliit, nakatulong ang Inoza Pro Hog Feeds para mabilis sila lumaki, mas malulusog at mabibigat. (Now, even though we’re not sure about the breed of our pigs, even if they’re skinny and small, Inoza Pro Hog Feeds helped them grow faster, become healthier, and gain more weight.)”
Bryan’s perseverance and hard work, paired with Inoza’s feed quality and technical support, have led to raising healthier and more marketable pigs, transforming what was once a struggling backyard project into a growing business.
Proven since day one

In Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur, Lily Rivas and her husband grew their pen from one sow into 13 pigs. Since day one of starting her farm in 2019, Lily has trusted Inoza Pro Gold. “Maganda ang nutrisyon, madaming gatas ang inahin, at mabilis tumubo ang biik. (The nutrition is great, the sows produce lots of milk, and the piglets grow quickly),” she said.
Her swine now produces piglets that gain up to 13kg by weaning, with less odor and higher profitability. “Konti lang ang gastos, pero malaki ang kita. (The feed costs are low, but the profit is big),” Lily said. “Six years na ako, hindi talaga ako gumamit ng ibang feed brand kasi kuntento na ako sa Inoza Pro Gold Feeds. (For six years now, I haven’t used any other feed brand because I’m already satisfied with Inoza Pro Gold Feeds.)”
Amid ASF and fluctuating pork prices, she persisted, proving that galing means having both patience and courage to face any challenge.
Feeding the future, together
For these hog raisers, Inoza Feeds is more than just its products; Inoza is a partner — one that listens, supports, and equips them with the tools to grow. Whether it’s better nutrition, cleaner pens, or technical guidance, Inoza’s Hog Line empowers farmers to raise healthier hogs with better returns.
At a time when local food production needs all the support it can get, stories like these serve as a reminder. With the galing of our farmers and the lakas of Inoza Feeds, achieving an adequate hog population is within reach.
“As we celebrate dedicated Filipino workers, we recognize every hardworking Filipino farmer and their need to have access to solutions that truly work. At Inoza Feeds, we are committed to making food better not just for animals, but also for a promising future of the country’s hog industry,” said Engr. Val Manzo, President and General Manager of Inoza Feeds.
