From the parking lot to the park: What to expect at Art Fair Philippines 2025

1 month ago 19

MANILA, Philippines – Art lovers can expect a whole new feel as the annual Art Fair Philippines returns with a bigger and better look.

The Filipino modern and contemporary art fair is scheduled for February 21 to 23 in a new venue at the Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati City.

Now on its 12th edition, this year’s fair is expected to be one of its biggest ever as it veers away from its usual site at The Link Carpark in Makati to a wider setting at the heart of the city’s business district.

In perhaps the most immersive edition of the fair, here are some things to expect from Art Fair Philippines 2025.

Premier art exhibits

Art Fair Philippines will again put the spotlight on a variety of local and international artists’ works and projects on top of digital endeavors, talks, and more.

The fair will have 48 exhibits from Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Spain, and the Philippines. Exhibits this year are fewer than last year, which had 55.

Some of the highly anticipated artists set to deliver their masterpieces are Manny Garibay, Manuel Ocampo, Goldie Poblador, Ryan Rubio, Jezzel Wee, and Spy Studio.

For the third straight year, the fair will also give a stage for digital works, which will be bannered by Filipino-American artist Chia Amazola with her curated “Kakakompyuter Mo Yan!” exhibit.

The curation will feature Filipino internet lores, the use of analog gadgets, and more in what could be the biggest highlight of the digital section.

For photography lovers, there will also be an exhibit titled “Kuha” by Fotomoto PH, a household organization in Manila that is composed of photographers, curators, and writers promoting Philippine photography in nationwide exhibitions.

Additionally, the fair will be presenting films such as Jaime Pacena II’s Kono Basho and Drew Milo’s The F.A.T. Boys!! Episode 1: Each One Teach One.

This year’s film section is a change from 2024’s edition, in which no films were exhibited, but filmmakers and goers discussed the country’s movie state, turning it into a haven for thought-provoking film conversations.

New experience

The Ayala Triangle Gardens will provide this year’s Art Fair Philippines a novel look — one that will be unlike any other editions, co-founder Trickie Lopa said.

“We always try to conceptualize something new each art fair,” she said. “So why not go bigger this year and just change the entire venue?”

Lopa, alongside her co-founder Dindin Araneta, commended the new area’s aesthetic, which, according to them, gave the premier art fair a distinct dynamic.

As artworks get closer to nature, the fair is also anticipated to go in unison with all the activities within the park.

“I wanted to find a venue that can also transform the experience of being an art fair…It felt so good to be around all of those trees in the garden,” Araneta said. “So I think that’s what I’m looking forward to, being around so much nature.”

Tickets and purchasing details

Tickets are priced at P750 for regular customers, while P500 for students and senior citizens.

Admission for Makati students and teachers will only be priced at P350 to lure more people from the nearby areas.

With the new venue, visitors can now enter through two entrances along Ayala Avenue and another along Makati Avenue.

Tickets can be purchased from the Art Fair Philippines website or at the reception areas in the two entrances for walk-in guests.

The exhibits will be open from 10 am to 9 pm.
