MANILA, Philippines — Free tricycle rides in Caloocan City will start on April 6 amid the impact of soaring fuel prices on commuters and the transport sector.
Participating members of tricycle associations will provide free rides during rush hour, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Tricycle drivers will receive P695 for four hours of daily service.
“We want to help the transport sector and our commuters. We have allocated funding to provide incentives that will support their livelihood while offering free rides to the public,” Mayor Along Malapitan said.
A free jeepney ride program will also be implemented, the city government said.
