MANILA, Philippines — Internet personality Jack Argota, known on Facebook as "Sir Jack Argota," admitted that the medical certificate he posted supposedly for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is fake.
Argota said this in an interview with reporters on Wednesday, February 18, as he appeared before the National Bureau of Investigation, which issued a subpoena against him over his post showing the alleged medical certificate of Marcos in January.
"Natutunan ko na 'wag puro bugso ng damdamin ang pairalin, pag-aralan mo rin kung may katotohanan or wala," he said in an ambush interview with reporters.
(I've learned not to let pure emotions take over; you also have to study whether there's any truth to it or not.)
When asked what his motive was in posting the fake medical certificate, he said: "Wala, para makasabay lang sa uso. Engagement, ganon." (Nothing, for the trend. For the engagements.)
He said that when the supposed medical certificate circulated online, he did not know that it was fake.
"Kasi ang daming nag-post, akala ko legit eh. Kaya nakisabay na ako," he said.
(I thought it was authentic because of all the posts, so I just went along with it.)
However, he also said that he has no remorse for what he did.
The supposed medical certificate of Marcos circulated online following his diagnosis with diverticulitis in January 2026 after experiencing abdominal discomfort.
On February 16, the NBI said that it filed cyberlibel complaints against former broadcaster Jay Sonza and online personality Jeffrey Celiz over the false medical records.
