MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos called on investors to explore business opportunities in the Philippines as he led the launch of a nationwide e-commerce platform and a food fair promoting Filipino cuisine.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) kicked off the Bagong Pilipinas National Food Fair and unveiled the Bagong Pilipinas Marketplace – the country’s largest business-to-business (B2B) online platform that aims to connect local enterprises with global institutional buyers.
Through such initiatives, the government is seeking to strengthen the local industry and position the Philippines as a key investment destination, Marcos said during the event held at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.
“Let this event also serve as an open invitation to more potential investors – both Filipinos and foreigners alike – to take part in the opportunities that the Philippine market offers,” Marcos said.
The Chief Executive commended the DTI for rolling out the Bagong Pilipinas Marketplace, which he said is expected to become a strong B2B platform highlighting Filipino products and services.
“This is very important because this is using the digital technology to expand markets, to expand supply chains, to make more efficient the delivery of goods and services,” he said.
“The platform will empower MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises) by providing them a space where their products can be seen, recognized and valued by a wider market,” he added. – Bella Cariaso
