On April 23, the Foundation for Media Alternatives launched the 10-Point Digital Rights Electoral Agenda, bringing together digital rights experts, journalists, and human rights advocates whose insights produced a rich conversation that emphasized the shared responsibility of both aspiring policymakers and the electorate in protecting our digital freedoms.
With the 2025 midterm elections fast approaching, FMA calls on all stakeholders to collectively push for pressing digital rights concerns. The 10-point agenda advocates for a more democratic and secure digital landscape, especially in light of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. It also calls for policies leveraging technology to establish a culture of transparency and accountability in the government.
As several speakers noted yesterday, our work towards a better internet must go beyond the realm of elections. May this agenda serve not only as a call to action, but also as a guide as we strive for a more just, inclusive, and rights-respecting digital space.
