MANILA, Philippines — Four crewmembers were rescued from a burning yacht off San Fernando town in Romblon by Philippine Coast Guard personnel and fishermen yesterday, according to the PCG.

Commodore Noemie Cayabyab, PCG spokesperson, said the motor yacht MY Jason caught fire at 1 p.m. in the vicinity of Barangays Mabini and Mabulo.

Cayabyab said the MY Jason was en route to Consolacion town in Cebu and had left the Subic Yacht Club at 10 a.m. yesterday.

The yacht captain reported that the fire originated from the engine compartment.

“Upon receiving the report, the PCG immediately activated its search and rescue response,” Cayabyab said.

Fishermen were able to reach the distressed vessel first.

No one was reported injured in the incident.
