For the first time in its 21-year history, the BLOOM art exhibit will be held in Mindanao

CAGAYAN DE ORO, Philippines – An art exhibit seeking to push for gender equality and social justice debuts the Cagayan de Oro edition of BLOOM, a curated showcase where Filipino women artists seamlessly blend art and activism, on Saturday, March 8, in celebration of International Working Women’s Day.

Set at the Carmen Art District on Fernandez Street, Cagayan de Oro, the BLOOM 2025 art exhibit, “Womenscape: A Feminist Reframing,” goes beyond the typical art show — every piece is a statement, challenging conventional narratives to encourage dialogue on gender equality and social justice, according to art director Kelly Ramos.

The BLOOM exhibit, which is open to the public, transforms creative vision into an invitation to reimagine empowerment and drive social change, said Ramos.

She said BLOOM exhibits are mounted with the transformative power of art in nation-building and women’s empowerment in mind.  The dedication of previous exhibits to promoting women’s voices through art has inspired the group to continue for years to come.

For the first time in its 21-year history, the exhibit organized by BLOOM Women’s group head Aba Lluch Dalena, will be held in Mindanao. It includes the artwork of more than 50 women.

Organizers said the art exhibit showcases the diverse perspectives and experiences of women artists in the Philippines, honors their strengths, resilience and creativity, and is meant to put emphasis on their contributions to the Philippine art landscape.

Through various mediums, the artists explored themes of identity, empowerment, and social justice, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the mosaic of women’s lives.

According to organizers, the collective art pieces assembled for the exhibition celebrate women’s empowerment and symbolize the fight for environmental preservation, with female figures embodying resistance, strength and solidarity. – Rappler.com
