The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) will be screening women-centered films in Intramuros every Saturday in March.
The event titled Cine Juana is in celebration of National Women’s Month, and “is a tribute to every Juana making her mark in the world,” FDCP said on Facebook.
“This National Women's Month, step into the world of powerful narratives that shed light on women's triumphs, resilience, and courage on the big screen at Cine Juana sa Intramuros!” the organization added.
Cine Juana will be held on March 8, 15, 22, and 29 at the Centro de Turismo and Fort Bonifacio Teatro. Admission is free, and will be on a walk-in and first come, first served basis.
The films and schedules are:
- “Insiang” directed by Lino Brocka and starring Hilda Koronel – March 8, 4 p.m., Centro de Turismo
- “Ma’ Rosa” directed by Brillante Mendoza and starring Jaclyn Jose – March 15, 4 p.m., Fort Bonifacio Teatro
- “Sonata” directed by Peque Gallaga, Lore Reyes and starring Cherie Gil - March 22, 4 p.m., Centro de Turismo
- “The Chanters” directed by James Robin Mayo and starring Jally Nae Gabaliga – March 29, 4 p.m., Fort Bonifacio Teatro
