BACOLOD CITY — A 38-year-old man was arrested here for posing as a police major while extorting money from his victims.

The suspect was identified as John Patrick Calsado, a resident of Koronadal City, who was apprehended on Nov. 29, 2025, outside Days Inn Hotel, Golden Field, Barangay Singcang-Airport.

The City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) denied asking for payment from individuals arrested by the police, clarifying that Calsado is not a member of CDEU or the Philippine National Police.

Calsado allegedly contacted individuals caught in buy-bust operations and offered to help them avoid charges in exchange for money, extorting over P700,000 from his victims.

The latest amount demanded was P40,000 before his arrest.
