No less than Chanyeol of EXO capped off Day 1 of the Philippines' first Waterbomb Festival.

The K-pop idol marked his third year visiting the Philippines with his appearance at the music festival on Saturday. Chanyeol was the last act, and started off his performance with “Nothing”, a song with his fellow member Sehun under the sub-unit EXO-SC.

“Our concert is quite long. Thank you so much for waiting for me. It’s really nice to see that you guys are enjoying together. You know that I really love it in the Philippines,” Chanyeol said in Korean.

It was an emotional moment when he played the song “Good Enough,” a sentimental favorite among fans.

He also sang “Tomorrow” and played with fans shooting water guns and chatting with them.

He concluded the set with “Hasta La Vista” from his debut solo extended play (EP) “Black Out” released in 2024.

“It’s been quite a few months since I came here in the Philippines with the ‘Cityscape’ concert. It’s been quite a while but thank you guys so much for the warm welcome,” he said.

The last time Chanyeol was in the Philippines was for a fan meeting in October 2024.

He was also in the country for three different events in 2023 — a concert for his sub-unit EXO-SC and two other brand activities.

Chanyeol is the rapper of the hit K-pop boy group EXO and were known for their songs like “Growl”, “Overdose”, “Love Shot”, among others.

He made his solo debut in 2024 with the EP “Black Out” released in August.

The K-pop idol has also pursued a career in acting like the film “So I Married and Anti-fan” in 2016, web series “Secret Queen Makers” in 2018, among others.

Launched in 2015, the Waterbomb Festival features K-pop acts and international artists in South Korea and has expanded in various countries including the Philippines.

It involves numerous water-based activities with attendees teaming up with their favorite artists. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
