Singson, 77, is the second official to resign from the ICI after Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong quit as special adviser last September

MANILA, Philippines – Former public works secretary Rogelio “Babes” Singson has resigned as Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) commissioner, ICI chairperson Andres Reyes confirmed on Wednesday, December 3.

Singson stepped down a few months after ICI was created by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Singson, 77, cited the “very intense and stressful ICI work” as a reason for his resignation, which takes effect on December 15.

Singson is the second official to resign from the commission. In September, a few days after he was named to the role, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong resigned from his post as ICI’s special adviser.

Singson, an industrial engineer, served as secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) during the administration of president Benigno S. Aquino III from 2010 to 2016.
