Four hundred evacuees, as well as the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) in Agoncillo, Batangas, received N95 masks and other forms of aid from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.
According to "24 Oras" Friday, some residents in Agoncillo have been staying in the evacuation center for five months now after they were hit by Tropical Storm Kristine last October.
They were also affected by Taal Volcano's minor phreatic eruption last month.
"Ang amin po talagang tinitirhan ay talaga pong madadaanan po talaga ng mga lagnas, ang mga lupa nabagsak po siya. 'Pag iniisip ho naming na may nagsasabing may bagyo, lagi ho kaming may takot na," said Derly Potoy, an evacuee.
Under Operation Bayanihan, the GMA Kapuso Foundation distributed N95 masks to the 400 evacuees as protection, and also gave them food packs and rice porridge.
The foundation likewise distributed N95 masks and hygiene kits to the BFP and PNP in eight municipalities in Batangas.
"Napakalaking tulong po ang binigay niyong mga emergency kit lalong-lalo na 'yung mga N95 face mask. Bilang responder din po, maproprotektahan po nito ang aming kalusugan," said SF02 Norman Signo, of the Chief Operation and Chief Fire Safety Enforcement Section in BFP San Nicolas, Batangas.
For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, and Shopee. Visit the GMA Kapuso Foundation website for more information.
