MANILA, Philippines — Actor Eric Quizon is pushing for the development of a biopic about his late father, the Philippines' "King of Comedy" Dolphy.

Eric appeared on the April 10 episode of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," where in the middle of the show the host pivoted the conversation to the actor's relationship with his father.

Boy then brought up the talks about making a Dolphy biopic, which Eric confirmed he'd been planning for the past five weeks with Bibeth Orteza.

The veteran actress and filmmaker has previously worked on the Dolphy biography "Hindi Ko Ito Narating Mag-isa" published four years before the comedian's death in 2012.

"Sinabi ko [kay Bibeth] gusto ko encapsulated from the time he was brought to the hospital until the time he died," Eric said, sharing that people do not know what his family went through in the five weeks before Dolphy's passing.

Eric even acknowledged that two hours may not be enough to truly cover the six decade-long career of his father, from his debut in "Dugo at Bayan" with Fernando Poe Sr. until his last acting credit "Pidol's Wonderland."

The actor also recalled Filipinos joining his family in prayer which gave them hope that Dolphy might pull through given he'd light up whenever he'd hear about the public's support.

"Sa family namin, it was a great time na we were spending those precious last few days of my dad," Eric shared, noting that the families of Dolphy's 18 children had to take turns because only one person would be allowed to be in the Intensive Care Unit with him.

Boy remembered covering those days outside the hospital and Eric's family would grant them interviews at the time, and even shared his friendship with Dolphy, both being "Baclaran Boys" as devotees of Redemptorist Church.

Eric also shared that when Dolphy underwent triple bypass surgery, upon the suggestion of lawyer friends, the family compiled money to be placed in a corporation.

However, when Dolphy learned about it after the procedure, he told off Eric and said "Buhay pa ako, pinapatay mo na ako." A year later Dolphy did forgive Eric and from then on would handle the veteran comedian's affairs.

The actor also talked about being the executor of Dolphy's estate and having to balance between his remaining siblings, who honored their father's wishes that they don't fight among one another. — Video from GMA Network's YouTube channel
