MANILA, Philippines — EJ Obiena captured his ninth gold medal of the season at the Istaf Berlin in Germany on Monday (Philippine time).
Obiena cleared 5.82 meters to top the tournament. He tried to clear 5.97m, but missed his three attempts.
“5.82m here in Berlin for the gold,” Obiena wrote on Instagram. “Thank you Istaf Berlin for having me. Hope to see you again next year!”

The two-time Olympian cleared 5.90, good for fifth place in the Weltklasse Zurich Diamond League, to secure his spot in the 2027 World Athletics Championships in Beijing, China.
Ylio Philtjens of Belgium was the runner-up, leaping 5.72m, Robin Emig of France also cleared the same height but settled for bronze via countback.
