MANILA, Philippines — The eGovPH Super App is now fully operational following a short malfunction due to a reported surge in usage, according to the Department of Information and Communications Technology.
The DICT yesterday noted that the disruptions, which lasted several hours across two days, occurred following an increase in simultaneous transactions on the application.
“Our servers were overwhelmed due to the surge in eGov usage, especially following the launch of new features,” DICT Undersecretary David Almirol Jr. said.
The agency added that it had also conducted a server capacity expansion to ensure that any further surge in users would not crash the eGov platform.
“We have resolved the issue. We just need to expand our servers to ensure this will not happen again,” he added.
The DICT said it would coordinate with other government stakeholders, including the Palace, to bolster the platform’s infrastructure and anticipate higher usage as more services are integrated into the app.
The DICT added that users aired their frustrations online, with some pointing out that recurring technical issues are hampering digitization initiatives.
Users had reported that they were unable to access the eGovPH app, with repeated failure in login attempts, account creation and other basic functions.
On April 13, the app was placed under maintenance to upgrade its servers and restore stability, with users being advised to access at a later time and locking them out of the platform.
Almirol also assured that there was no hacking or data breach involved in the incident, noting that the platform remains secured.
The agency said that the app has reached 40 million downloads as of 2026. The eGov app acts as a centralized platform that integrates government services from multiple agencies.
These include digital travel declarations, access to multiple digital IDs, national and local document signing, document signing, other government services and AI-assisted support.
