The Department of Education official assigned to a remote town in Zamboanga Sibugay was on his way home when he was attacked by gunmen, killing instantly.

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Gunmen shot dead a school district supervisor in an attack in Barangay Dawa-Dawa in Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay on Thursday night, April 30.

The 45-year-old Department of Education employee, Rey Dalaota Camaingking, was walking at an unlit stretch of street in Sitio Guicam in Dawa-Dawa when he was repeatedly shot by gunmen positioned along the route.

Captain Rumulado Puig III, officer-in-charge of the Alicia Municipal Police Station, said on Friday that Camaingking died instantly from bullet wounds sustained in the attack.

Barangay officials and police probers who responded to the incident told reporters that witnesses had seen Camaingking's assailants escape using a getaway Honda XRM 125 motorcycle.

Camaingking, a resident of Nesoricom Village in Magdaup in Ipil town in Zamboanga Sibugay, is a school district supervisor in Olutanga municipality in the province.

He was to go home to Ipil, from Olutangga, when he was attacked by pistol-wielding men, according to municipal and barangay officials in Alicia.

Camaingking had no known enemies, according to his relatives and friends. They urged the police and local executives in Alicia to cooperate in putting a closure to the incident.
