“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Eduardo J. Soriano, our Vice-Chairman and Director, today, February 17, 2025,” the firm said in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange.

He served as Director of Anscor since May 21, 1980 and became Vice-Chairman in 1990. He was the company’s Treasurer from 1990 up to  his retirement in 2018.

Soriano is also the President of The Andres Soriano Foundation, Inc. and a Director of Phelps Dodge International Philippines, Inc.

“Our Chairman, Mr. Andres Soriano III, the Board of Directors, and the entire Anscor group of companies extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr. Eduardo J. Soriano. We are profoundly grateful for his invaluable contributions and service to Anscor,” the company said.

Soriano was also Chairman of Anscor Holdings, Inc. (2012 to present); Director of Phelps Dodge Philippines Energy Products Corporation (1997 to present).

He was a Graduate of Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics, Major in History, University of Pennsylvania, (1977).

Aside from his corporate roles, Soriano was also running his dairy farm, Hacienda Macalauan, of which he is president and CEO.

Hacienda Macalauan, Inc. (HMI) is a Philippine corporation and registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission in 1995 as a dairy farm entity, whose primary purpose is to operate a dairy farm and manufacture milk products and related dairy products.

The company was founded by Soriano, who has been engaged in the dairy industry since his family operated San Miguel Corporation and Magnolia Dairy.

Farm operations began with just a handful of Magnolia dairy cows but quickly expanded into a small-scale dairy farm following the acquisition and importation of 100 heads of Freshian Sahiwals from Australia.

It was in the late 1990’s that HMI started its dairy processing operation. The plant initially processed liquid milk and cheese products, which include white cheese or kesong puti, ricotta and cottage cheese.

These were delivered by reefer vans daily to Manila’s exclusive subdivisions and villages thus earning its moniker“The Milkman”.

Overlooking the scenic Mt. Makiling in Calauan, Laguna, today HMI’s farm boasts several hectares of pasture land for its dairy herd, an automated milking parlor and a technologically advanced dairy processing plant.

In early 2013, as part of its diversifcation strategy, HMI started the plan to venture intomanufacturing of coconut products for export, particularly to the US and EU markets.

The project evolved initially as a way of adding more efficiency to the existing dairy plant by utilizing excess capacity.
