In a new episode of Golden Nation Network's "Face the Nation" program, EduAksyon Party-list's First Nominee, Michael Alexander Ang, together with other nominees lawyer Kristjan Vincent Gargantiel and Dr. Aldrin Darilag, outlined the party's vision for transformative educational reforms in the Philippines.
Ang, who also serves as the Chief Financial Officer of The Manila Times, emphasized the need for a more efficient and accessible education system to better prepare Filipino students for the global job market.
A key proposal discussed by Ang is the reduction of the standard four-year college curriculum to three years. This streamlined approach would consist of two years of focused classroom instruction followed by one year of on-the-job training. He argued that this model would not only align academic programs with industry demands but also alleviate financial burdens on students and their families.
"Education shouldn't be a burden but a pathway to opportunity," Ang stated.
Ang highlighted that general education subjects are already covered during secondary education, allowing the proposed three-year curriculum to concentrate on specialized courses pertinent to students' chosen fields. This shift aims to produce graduates who are both academically proficient and practically experienced, enhancing their competitiveness in the workforce.

Drawing comparisons to European educational systems, where three-year degree programs are prevalent, Ang suggested that the Philippines adopt a similar framework to modernize higher education.
He called for collaboration between the Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education to conduct feasibility studies on implementing this curriculum change.
The episode also touched upon EduAksyon Party-list's recent surge in public opinion polls. According to a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey conducted from February 15 to 19, 2025, the party-list has risen to 12th place, reflecting growing voter confidence in its advocacy for educational reform.
