MANILA, Philippines — The EDSA Busway recorded higher ridership in 2025, serving more than 66 million passengers, the Department of Transportation said.

Data released by the DOTr on Monday, Jan. 12, showed the busway carried 66,669,287 passengers in 2025, up from 63,022,953 riders the previous year.

The busway logged its highest monthly volume in December 2025, when 6,530,415 passengers used the service during the holiday period.

Its single-day peak for the year was recorded in April 2025, with 321,186 passengers taking the busway within a 24-hour period.

According to the DOTr, the EDSA Busway has served a cumulative 341,307,843 passengers since operations began in June 2020.

Modernization and expansion plans. Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said the agency remains committed to modernizing the busway, describing the project’s performance as a model for improving urban mobility.

“Marami pa tayong improvements na gagawin, tulad na lang ng mas modernong Kamuning Busway station, at tatlo pang bagong istasyon ng busway ngayong 2026 para masigurong mas maginhawa at mas mabilis ang biyahe ng mga pasahero,” Lopez said.

He said the planned upgrades include a more modern Kamuning Busway station and the addition of three new busway stations in 2026 to improve passenger comfort and travel speed.
