MANILA, Philippines — East West Banking Corp. has approved key leadership appointments, naming a new head of strategic finance and a new chief risk officer as part of its management succession plans.

In a disclosure to the local bourse, the Gotianun-led bank said its board of directors approved the appointment of Grace Ang as head of strategic finance with the rank of senior vice president, effective Feb. 16, in a regular meeting held yesterday.

The board also approved the appointment of John Jerrick Juinio as chief risk officer with the rank of executive vice president, likewise effective Feb. 16, succeeding Ang.

Juinio brings more than 20 years of experience in risk management, credit optimization and digital transformation in the banking sector.

Prior to joining EastWest, he served as regional credit risk officer at HSBC Hong Kong, where he oversaw priority markets including Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, China and India.

He previously held the position of chief risk officer at ANZ Bank and later at ING Philippines, where he supported the bank’s retail business.

Juinio holds a double degree in applied economics and management of financial institutions earned in 1991 and a master of business administration completed in 1994, both from De La Salle University.

Meanwhile, Ang has been with EastWest Bank since October 2006, serving as chief risk officer for more than 19 years and based in Makati City, according to her professional background.

Prior to joining EastWest, she was performance management officer at the International Exchange Bank from 2000 to 2006. She completed her studies at De La Salle University.

The appointments take effect next month as EastWest continues to strengthen its leadership team across key control and finance functions.
