MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Women’s Business Council Philippines Inc. (WomenBizPH) have teamed up to strengthen efforts to support women enterprises.
A memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed by the DTI with WomenBizPH early this week for the six-year partnership.
The MOA builds on an agreement signed by the parties in May 2021 aimed at empowering women enterprises as part of efforts to recover from the pandemic.
Under the new MOA, the DTI will assist WomenBizPH in the rollout and implementation of projects, particularly in regional and provincial areas.
The agency will also facilitate access to its facilities, Negosyo Centers and other venues for capacity-building workshops, trainings and related activities.
In addition, the DTI will work with WomenBizPH in gathering inputs and policy recommendations on proposed and existing trade, industry and economic measures that affect women businesses.
The DTI will also encourage WomenBizPH to participate in the agency’s trade missions and capacity building activities, as well as support programs and initiatives that advance women entrepreneurship.
Meanwhile, WomenBizPH will update the DTI on emerging business trends, industry developments and challenges affecting women businesses, as well as propose programs and policy interventions.
It will also develop and operate the “Women Mentorship” Hotline to provide guidance to women-led enterprises through digital and other accessible channels.
Apart from providing digital advisory and learning services, it will also support the DTI’s financing arm, Small Business Corp., in promoting the Women Enterprise Fund and similar financing programs to improve access to finance.
Composed of the Philippines’ top women business leaders and entrepreneurs, WomenBizPH serves as the leading voice of women in commerce in the country.
