The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will lead the Philippines’ business mission in the United States (US) to help solidify the country’s position as a quality provider of healthcare information management services, expanding the sector’s reach into new markets.

In a statement, the DTI said it will participate in the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Global Health Conference and Exhibition in Las Vegas, Nevada, from March 3 to 7.

The agency said the Philippines would have a dedicated pavilion at the conference to showcase the country's healthcare expertise.

“This strong presence at HIMSS underscores the Philippines' strategic ambition: to solidify its position as the premier outsourcing destination for [healthcare information and management systems],” the DTI stated.

The government aims to leverage the country’s highly skilled and professional workforce, competitive cost structure, adherence to global standards, and strong government support among international attendees.

Participating in the event, according to the DTI, is crucial to capitalize on the increasing demand for digital healthcare solutions and smart hospital technologies in North America, particularly the US.

The agency noted that the country’s consistent participation in global exhibitions has yielded significant results, such as approximately $53 million in export sales and $50 million in potential investments over three years.

“These engagements have facilitated the expansion of several firms, which are projected to create between 2,000 and 5,000 new jobs for Filipino professionals,” it pointed out.

To complement the HIMSS, the DTI will also lead the Philippine Healthcare USA Roadshow, which will feature a business forum, meetings, and facility visits, to leading healthcare companies in Las Vegas.

The roadshow is designed to provide valuable insights into industry trends, supply chain developments, technological advancements, potential partnerships, and investment opportunities.

The DTI’s business mission in Las Vegas is co-organized by the Health Information Management Association of the Philippines (HIMAP) and is supported by several government programs and agencies.
