COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and policemen arrested four shabu dealers together operating a drug den in an entrapment operation in Barangay Bagua 3 in this city on Wednesday, February 25.
City officials and barangay leaders who supported the entrapment operation told reporters on Thursday that the suspects, the females Nora Abdullah and Norainie Abdullah, and their male accomplices, Fariz Dimalen and Abdulrakman Salvo are now detained in the office of the PDEA-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao at the PC Hill area in Cotabato City.
Edgar Jubay, director of the PDEA-BARMM, told reporters on Thursday that the four suspects were immediately arrested by their agents and a team from the Cotabato City Police Office after they have procured shabu from them during a tradeoff right in their drug den in Barangay Bagua 3.
Jubay said the operation that led to their arrest was laid with the help of Cotabato City's police director, Col. Jibin Bongcayao, the office of Mayor Bruce Matabalao and his constituent-barangay officials and traditional Moro community leaders.
Jubay said their agents have confiscated from the four suspects 12 grams of shabu, costing P81,600, which shall be used as evidence in prosecuting them for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Muslim and Christian community leaders in Barangay Bagua 3 overtly supporting the joint anti-narcotics thrusts of the PDEA-BARMM and city police told reporters it was the relatives of the four suspects who asked them to report to the PDEA-BARMM their operation of a drug den in the area, where they facilitated pot sessions for buyers of their illegal merchandise.
Barangay officials said a companion of the four suspects, Johari Usman, managed to escape when he sensed that they had sold shabu to anti-narcotics operatives.
The drug den of the four now detained shabu dealers is now guarded together by barangay officials and volunteer community watchmen.
