BACOLOD CITY — Multiple charges will be filed against the driver of the red Toyota Innova that crashed into a procession, resulting in the death of three persons on Good Friday in Barangay Alangilan, Bacolod City.
Bacolod Police chief Col. Joeresty Coronica said in a press conference on Monday that they are still awaiting the medical certificates of the victims from the hospital before charges are filed against the driver, who holds an Indian passport.
Jagpreet Singh, 37, is likely to face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, multiple physical injuries and damage to properties, as well as violations of the anti-drunk driving law as the test results showed the driver's alcohol level exceeded the allowed limit.
At least 16 people were also injured by the incident that also damaged a tricycle, a multicab and a police mobile patrol.
Singh is currently in the custody of Police Station 5 in Barangay Granada.

Initial investigation showed that the vehicle driven by Singh hit a tricycle at the Good Friday procession causing it to split in half.
One half of the tricycle flew and landed on the hood of a police patrol car and the other half hit the participants of the procession, the police said.
Lay Minister Jonel Solano, 66, barangay tanod Gilven Tanique, 62, and student Daynah Plohinog, 21, who were on board the tricycle died.
LtCol. Ramel Sarona, head of the Traffic Management Unit of the Bacolod City Police Office, said 16 other persons were injured, seven of whom have been discharged from the hospital.
