MANILA, Philippines — Palace Press Officer Claire Castro did not mince her words against Vice President Sara Duterte, calling her an “emotional vulture” who was pretending to be concerned about the country’s problems, but is not doing anything to actually help solve anything.

Duterte had pondered whether there would still be a Philippines by the time the 2028 national elections take place, complaining that the country had too many problems.

Castro called the vice president ‘blind’ to the Marcos administration’s efforts, saying she likely ignored it on purpose.

“Nakakalungkot lamang dahil iyan ay galawang Duterte, showing the characteristics of an emotional vulture, isang buwitre – nagpapanggap na concern sa kalagayan ng bansa when in fact she admitted that she doesn’t want to help the President in his projects for the country. Drama pero walang gawa,” Castro said in a press briefing on Friday.

(It is saddening because this is a Duterte move, showing the characteristic of an emotional vulture – pretending to be concerned for the state of the nation when in fact she admitted that she doesn’t want to help the President in his projects for the country. Drama but no action.)

If there were to be no more Philippines by the time that 2028 arrives, it would only be if the people chose a “Manchurian candidate” — a puppet of another nation that is willing to surrender the country’s resources.

Castro did not directly call Duterte a Manchurian candidate, but the vice president indeed has a history of cozying up with Chinese officials while staying mum on the West Philippine Sea issue.

The Palace official also said that it was shameful for Duterte to keep spewing disinformation about her and the administration. Castro brought up a laundry list of Duterte’s controversies, including the time when the vice president said she knew a hitman who could go after Marcos, First Lady Liza Marcos and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

Castro’s Valentine’s Day message to Duterte?

“Spread love, not fake news, not immorality. Don't be a chucky,” Castro said.
