MANILA, Philippines — The rehabilitation of Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) will officially begin on December 24, Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon announced.
During a press conference on Wednesday, December 17, Dizon said the rehabilitation will take place from 11 p.m. on December 24 until 4 a.m. on Jan. 5, 2026.
He added that all works and overlays will be carried out 24 hours a day throughout the holiday break.
Meanwhile, the road work will be conducted daily from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., starting after January 5 of next year.
According to Dizon, the new plan for the EDSA rehabilitation project has a target completion time of just eight months, a significant reduction from the previous timetable, which was set for two years.
The cost of the rehabilitation was also reduced to P6 billion, according to Dizon.
It can be recalled that in June 2025, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced the postponement of the EDSA rehabilitation, which was originally scheduled to begin in July 2025.
The delay was intended to allow the government to conduct studies on measures to minimize the project’s impact on the public.
