MANILA, Philippines — Following the dismissal of three airport personnel accused of theft, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) is tightening the reins on the Office for Transportation Security.
“It is proven that some OTS security screening officers are involved in the theft of passengers’ belongings or money,” Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said recently.
“You will be held accountable. We will ensure that the perpetrators are punished,” he added.
Two OTS screening officers and a supervisor at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 were dismissed after an Australian lost P7,000 and 1,000 New Taiwan dollars on April 3.
The three suspects are facing criminal and administrative complaints.
