MANILA, Philippines – Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon announced the immediate termination of three airport personnel involved in an alleged “tanim-bala” (bullet-planting) incident at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) last week.

This comes after passenger Ruth Adel posted on social media her experience at the airport for her flight to Vietnam last week, March 6. Personnel from the Office for Transportation Security went up to her to check her luggage despite having been cleared through security, alleging that airport security found an anting-anting (lucky charms) bullet in Adel’s luggage.

Adel thought it was a “prank” as personnel approached her, made inconsistent statements and kept laughing about the matter.

“The appropriate investigations will be conducted and the proper administrative charges will be filed after the investigations but now, we are terminating them already today,” Dizon said in a press briefing.
