DOMESTIC workers in the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon (Calabarzon) area or Region 4A will get an increase in their monthly salary next month, ranging from P750 to P1,750.
The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board 4A (RTWPB-4A) has approved Wage Order RB-IVA-DW-05, issued on Feb. 10, setting the new minimum wage for domestic workers or household helpers to a uniform rate of P6,750, regardless if one is working in a city or municipality.
Under the new wage order, the minimum monthly salary for domestic workers in cities and first-class municipalities will increase from P6,000 to P6,750, while those in other municipalities who received P5,000 per month will also get a minimum of P6,750.
The wage order was published on Feb. 19, 2025, and shall take effect after 15 days from its publication, or on March 7, 2025.
The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) reviewed and affirmed the wage order in accordance with existing laws and procedures.

Some 235,000 domestic workers are expected to benefit from the wage increase in the region, approximately 28 percent of them on live-in arrangement.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said the increase was based on consultations and public hearings relative to the needs of the domestic helpers and their families, the capacity of employers to pay and the prevailing socioeconomic conditions in the region.
The new wage order applies to all domestic workers, whether in live-in or live-out arrangements, including but not limited to house helpers, nannies, cooks, gardeners, laundry personnel, and any worker who regularly performs domestic duties in a household.
Not covered by the increase are service providers, family drivers and any other person who performs work occasionally and not on an occupational basis.
The last wage order for domestic workers in Calabarzon was issued on Jan. 22, 2024. It took effect on Feb. 19, 2024. It was implemented on July 16 in the same year.
