The convention took place in Geneva, Switzerland on April 7 to 11, 2025.
The Philippine delegation included representatives from DOLE, DMW and the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The two agencies also agreed on a collaborative approach in the negotiations for the Philippines-European Union Free Trade Agreement, bilateral agreements such as the PH-Oman Memorandum of Understanding and the Technical
Working Group on humanitarian concerns in Sabah, Malaysia.

DOLE has committed to provide support to DMW at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Committee on the Implementation of the Asean Declaration on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers (ACMW) on June 25 and 26, 2026 and the 19th Asean Forum on Migrant Labour (AFML) on Oct. 15 and 16, 2026, which the DMW are set to chair.
Both engagements are aimed at promoting better migrant worker protection and labor migration governance.

Also in attendance during the preparatory meeting were officials from both departments, including DOLE Undersecretary Benedicto Ernesto Bitonio Jr., OIC-Assistant Secretary Maria Consuelo Bacay, Institute for Labor Studies Executive Director Jeanette Damo, ILATF Jomel Cruzado, and DMW Undersecretaries Jainal Rasul Jr., Patricia Yvonne Caunan, Bernard Olalia and Felicitas Bay, along with Division Chief Mary Sol Dela Cruz.
