MANILA, Philippines —  The resolutions on the complaints for plunder against former congressman and fugitive Zaldy Co and for malversation against detained former senator Ramon Revilla Jr. are being reviewed, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said yesterday.

“The resolutions for Zaldy Co’s Plunder case and Revilla’s malversation case are currently under review with the Division Chief. No exact date of release yet,” DOJ spokesman Polo Martinez said in a message sent to reporters.

He explained that the draft resolutions have been prepared by the panel of prosecutors handling each case.

“The review will cover the handling prosecutors’ discussion of the evidence submitted, the law applied, the legal and factual conclusions derived from the evidence, and ultimately the recommendation for either filing or dismissal,” Martinez noted.

Once the division chief has reviewed the resolutions, the Prosecutor General would be the next – and the final one – to scrutinize them.

“If (Prosecutor General) has any revisions, the draft resolution will be transmitted back to the handling panel of prosecutors,” Martinez added.

Revilla and Co were among the respondents in the complaints related to the anomalous flood control projects, some of which were filed by the National Bureau of Investigation.

Also included were Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, former Department of Public Works and Highways secretary Manuel Bonoan, undersecretary Roberto Bernardo, district engineer Henry Alcantara and director Gerard Opulencia – all facing plunder complaints and were named in a precautionary hold departure order issued by a Manila court.
