Now, the dream lives on — as the Tour of Luzon returns

For over three decades, the Tour of Luzon served as the heartbeat of Philippine roads. Much like the Tour de France halfway across the world, thousands of spectators lined up to see what was then the greatest sporting spectacle. It was there where no lines were drawn between rich and poor: only grit, heart, and dreams.

As the people looked for a compelling story, rivalries emerged as fans took sides. These kept the races even more interesting. But for every rivalry, only one could stand atop the podium.

However, no race could outrun the times. With the sunset of the tobacco industry, the huge sponsorship for the Marlboro Tour ended.

And now, the dream lives on — as the Tour of Luzon returns.
