MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Monday closed a training center engaged in illegally recruiting workers abroad.
In coordination with the Manila Police District, DMW Secretary Hans Cacdac shut down Buenas Hotel Services Co. located along Adriatico street in Ermita.
Reports reaching the DMW said the training center collects P4,500 in training fee and P2,000 in processing fee from each job applicant.
The applicants will be referred to the ALJU Manpower Services, which will ask them to pay up to P250,000 in placement fees.
The applicants said they were promised jobs in Maldives, Taiwan, Middle East, Palau and other European countries.
Three victims first sought the DMW’s assistance regarding the illegal recruitment of Buenas and ALJU.
According to DMW, Buenas was not issued a certification to engage in job recruitment.
The DMW said the operation of ALJU Manpower Services has been suspended since Nov. 3, 2025.
The DMW urged other victims to report the scheme through the department’s Facebook page.
