MANILA, Philippines — DMCI Homes has completed the landscaping enhancement project for the iconic University of the Philippines Parish of the Holy Sacrifice in Diliman, Quezon City.
The enhancement project, which started in May 2024, includes landscaping upgrades, grassing and clearing across the chapel grounds.
DMCI Homes said that the enhancement project was completed in time as the chapel prepares to celebrate its 70th anniversary on Dec. 20, 2025.
“The UP Chapel holds deep significance for the UP Diliman community. Being able to contribute to its enhancement and preservation is both a privilege and a heartfelt responsibility for our team. We hope that the refreshed surroundings offer a setting that uplifts everyone who visits,” DMCI Homes concepts and landscape management assistant vice president Alexis Valiente said.
The Parish of the Holy Sacrifice in UP Diliman was designed by National Artist for Architecture Leandro Locsin with former dean of the UP College of Engineering Alfredo Juinio as structural engineer.
It is one of the iconic landmarks built by DMCI Group founder David Consunji.
Considered a unique achievement in Philippine architecture, the UP Chapel is the country’s first circular chapel and the first to feature a thin-shell concrete dome.
It is also the only structure in the Philippines that brings together the works of five national artists: Leandro Locsin for Architecture, Napoleon Abueva for Sculpture, Arturo Luz for Visual Arts, Vicente Manansala for Painting and Ang Kiukok for Visual Arts.
DMCI Homes hopes that the enhanced surroundings will offer church-goers a better experience throughout the Christmas season and beyond.
The landscaping enhancement project continues DMCI Homes’ longstanding support for the upkeep of the UP Chapel.
In 2021, the company and its partners completed a major renovation that strengthened the structure and helped safeguard its historical and cultural significance for generations of students, alumni and visitors.
As the first Quadruple A real estate developer in the Philippines, DMCI Homes is known for building quality resort-inspired communities in Mega Manila, Baguio, Boracay and Davao City.
The company’s portfolio includes more than 70 properties since it was launched in 1999.
