MANILA, Philippines — Police are investigating an unidentified dismembered body stashed in a black trash bag in Binondo, Manila on Sunday.
Witnesses said two men alighted from a white L300 van and unloaded a drum wrapped in plastic tape along the Mel Lopez Bridge.
According to probers, two scavengers were instructed to dispose of the body inside a drum in exchange for money.
After paying the scavengers, the two men headed toward Mel Lopez Boulevard.
The scavengers said they loaded the drum onto a cart and left it in front of the Delpan Sports Complex to clear its contents.
As the scavengers emptied the drum, they found a trash bag containing dismembered human body parts.
They immediately reported the incident to authorities.
Manila Police District spokesman Maj. Philipp Ines said they have yet to identify the fatality as well as the suspects.
