MANILA, Philippines — As people continue to look for ways to deal with soaring prices of fuel and basic commodities, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) urged consumers to purchase goods from Kadiwa ng Pangulo outlets nationwide.
The DILG said there are Kadiwa store outlets in 784 localities to provide people with direct access to low-cost food and essential goods.
Kadiwa operates as a direct producer-to-consumer market under the Department of Agriculture, cutting layers in the supply chain to lower prices while increasing the income of farmers, fisherfolk, and micro, small and medium enterprises.
The DILG urged local governments to identify and secure Kadiwa sites so the public can have sustained access to fresh and affordable products.
Among the basic goods available in Kadiwa stores are vegetables, fruits, processed food, ready-to-eat meals and non-food items at cheaper prices. Rice is sold at P20 a kilo for vulnerable sectors.
The DILG hosts a Kadiwa market at its central office in Quezon City.
