MANILA, Philippines — One of the six co-accused of former lawmaker Bong Revilla is still at large, Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla said.

In a press briefing with reporters at Camp Crame in Quezon City on Tuesday, January 20, Remulla said that five of the six accused in the malversation through falsification of public documents case filed against Revilla and his co-accused are already in custody.

“Out of the six other accused, lima ang nasa custody na galing sa DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways),” he said.

(Out of the six other accused, five are now in custody from the DPWH.)

“Isa nalang ang malapit namin mahuli, alam na namin kung nasaan siya,” he added.

(Only one remains at large, and we have already pinpointed his location.)

According to Remulla, the following co-accused are in custody aside from Revilla:

  • Former DPWH Engineer Jaypee Mendoza (under Senate custody)
  • Former DPWH Engineer Brice Hernandez (under Senate custody)
  • Arjay Domasig
  • Christina Mae del Rosario Pineda
  • Emelita Juat

This leaves Juanito Mendoza as the only one still at large in the case.

Turned over guns. Remulla also said that Revilla surrendered his firearms as he can no longer “own and possess” guns since he will be detained.

“Since he will be detained, he will no longer be able to be in possession of those firearms,” Remulla explained.

According to Remulla, the former lawmaker has a total of 20 firearms, which include seven long firearms and 14 short firearms.

Revilla’s surrender. Revilla surrendered to the custody of the Philippine National Police–Criminal Investigation and Detection Group on the evening of January 19.

He arrived with his family at Camp Crame in Quezon City past 9 p.m.

This was after the Sandiganbayan Third Division issued a warrant of arrest against him over the P92.8 million flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan, which investigators alleged was non-existent.

Revilla also arrived at the Sandiganbayan along with Remulla on Tuesday for the return of the warrant.

This places the former lawmaker under the jurisdiction of the anti-graft court.

When asked where he would be detained, Remulla said that it would depend on the Sandiganbayan.

“Bahala na ang Sandigan kung saan siya ilalagay,” Remulla said.

(It’s up to the Sandigan on where he will be held.)

This is Revilla’s second time being detained for alleged corruption.

He was first detained in the 2013 pork barrel scam but was eventually acquitted by the anti-graft court after the evidence against him was deemed insufficient.
