MANILA, Philippines — Diesel prices are set to surge by as much as P18.80 per liter on Tuesday, April 7, marking one of the steepest single-week increases as global oil prices remain elevated.

In separate advisories, oil firms said the latest adjustments will take effect early Tuesday, with diesel again taking the biggest hit.

Petron will raise diesel by P18.80 per liter, gasoline by P4.90, and kerosene by P8.10 effective 6 a.m. Tuesday. Seaoil will implement a P17.95 increase for diesel, alongside the same adjustments for gasoline and kerosene.

Jetti Petroleum, meanwhile, will raise diesel by P18.60 per liter and gasoline by P5.40 per liter, effective Friday, April 10.

The increases come on top of already elevated pump prices across Metro Manila.

Based on Department of Energy (DOE) bechmarks from March 31 to April 6, diesel in the National Capital Region had a common price of P128.80 per liter, with a range of P110 to P144.90.

With Tuesday’s hikes, diesel prices at some stations could reach:

Company Increase (Peso/L) Estimated new diesel price (Peso/L)
Petron +18.80 ~147.60
Seaoil +17.95 ~146.75

Diesel Plus, already at a common price of P145.90 per liter, may move further higher depending on station adjustments.

Kerosene, gasoline also rising

Kerosene, which had a common NCR price of P155 per liter, could climb to about:

Product Common price (Peso/L) Increase Estimated new price
Kerosene 155.00 +8.10 ~163.10

Petron and Seaoil’s P4.90-per-liter increase would bring RON95 to around P99.20 per liter, while Jetti’s later P5.40 hike signals further upward pressure later in the week.

Even before the latest adjustments, pump prices were already high.

Reported benchmarks for April 5–6 showed Metro Manila average diesel price at P133.19 per liter and unleaded gasoline at P90.93. The latest round is expected to further strain transport costs and household budgets, with diesel remaining the most sensitive price point. — Based on reports from The STAR/Brix Lelis
