IMUS CITY — The Diocese of Imus Catholic Educational System (Dices), in solidarity with other Catholic educational institutions, has declared Feb. 25 as a special nonworking holiday in all its member schools in Cavite to mark the EDSA People Power Revolution.

The declaration is based on Circular Letter 10, series of 2025, signed by Bishop Reynaldo Evangelista of Diocese of Imus.

The letter was posted on the social media page of the Diocese of Imus dated Feb. 21, 2025, and addressed to the Clergy, Consecrated Persons and Lay Faithful of the Diocese of Imus for the Commemoration of the EDSA Revolution.

According to the letter, the nonviolent revolution that transpired on Feb. 22 to 25, 1986, marked a significant moment in the nation's history.

The struggle to depose a dictator was not borne out of some personal interests or any particular political ideology; rather it emerged from a deep commitment in pursuit of liberty, truth, and justice, the letter said.

"Above all, it was driven by a profound sense of faith in the Lord that constantly seeks what is true, good, and noble, so that future generations will value the Lord's gift of freedom," it added.

This initiative aims to instill in the youth the commitment to freedom, justice, and peace, while continually renewing the sense of patriotism.

The letter also encouraged parishes, Catholic institutions, religious, and Christian communities to make this day, Feb. 25, meaningful by offering prayers for the country during the Eucharistic celebrations.

The letter also encouraged to initiate programs and activities which will rekindle not only the love for the Lord but also for the country, most especially now as we discern for the future leaders in the May 12, 2025 midterm elections.

Dices has a network of 26 diocesan/parochial schools in 30 campuses spread across the entire province of Cavite. It is under the supervision of the Episcopal Vicar for Catholic Education and Superintendent of Diocesan Schools Rev. Fr. Alain Manalo.
