MANILA, Philippines — Even after the government ordered the arrest of Sen. Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa, Sen. Robin Padilla still refused to say where he is.

In an interview with reporters on Thursday, June 11, Padilla was asked about the whereabouts of Dela Rosa, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court.

“Kahit alam ko, hindi ko sasabihin sa'yo,” Padilla told reporters while laughing. (Even if I know, I won’t tell you.)

On May 28, the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group recommended the filing of obstruction of justice charges against Padilla over Dela Rosa’s escape from the Senate premises on May 14, 2026.

According to the CIDG, the transport of Dela Rosa from the Senate before dawn on May 14 was “not a mere hitch ride” on Padilla’s vehicle, but supposedly a “highly coordinated” and “pre-planned logistical maneuver” intended to “avoid detection while escaping the Senate premises.”

The Department of Justice ordered Dela Rosa’s arrest on May 21.

Dela Rosa is wanted by the ICC for alleged crimes against humanity of murder over the killings of at least 32 people allegedly committed between July 2016 and April 2018.
