MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) has established a centralized procurement information hub aimed at boosting transparency and strengthening public accountability in the agency’s procurement activities, Education Secretary Sonny Angara announced yesterday.
Dubbed the DepEd Procurement Dashboard Hub, the platform consolidates key procurement data into a single, accessible system to allow stakeholders and the public to monitor the agency’s projects and spending more efficiently.
“This dashboard reflects our commitment to President Bongbong Marcos’ vision of a digital-forward and transparent government where every peso for our learners is accounted for,” Angara said.
The hub seeks to ensure that vital resources such as textbooks, learning materials, information and communication technology equipment and school infrastructure are delivered to learners more efficiently through enhanced public accountability and data-driven monitoring.
“By opening our procurement processes to the public, we align with the President’s mandate to eliminate corruption and ensure that school infrastructure and supplies are delivered without delay,” Angara added.
Under the dashboard, users may view the total approved budget for contracts as well as the number of ongoing projects being implemented by the DepEd central office, which allows stakeholders to monitor how resources are distributed across various programs funded under the General Appropriations Act.
To further promote transparency, the agency also included a mechanism that allows the public to report procurement-related concerns, including suspected fraud or corruption, in a bid to encourage greater citizen participation and reinforce accountability.
