THE Department of Education (DepEd) has partnered with OceanX Education Inc., a US-based ocean exploration initiative, to develop immersive ocean education programs and leadership opportunities for Filipino learners.
Under a Memorandum of Agreement, DepEd and OceanX will collaborate on science expeditions utilizing the OceanXplorer research vessel and related media projects.
As part of its 2025 research expedition, OceanX will conduct in-port activations to provide learners with hands-on experiences and insights into marine science and conservation.
Education Secretary Juan Edgardo "Sonny" Angara toured the OceanXplorer, the world's most advanced research and media vessel, during its visit to the Manila South Port last year.
OceanX also offers Filipino youth unique opportunities through its Young Explorers Program and Early Career Explorers Program. The Young Explorers Program, designed for ages 18-24, features workshops, hands-on activities, and independent study to build foundational knowledge in ocean science, marine operations, and digital storytelling.
