MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) yesterday condemned the death of a kindergarten pupil who was hit by a stray bullet while inside a classroom in Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur.
The agency condoled with the family of Farhadin Ludtia, who died at the scene of the incident in Barangay Damabalas on Wednesday.
Authorities expressed belief that the bullet came from a firefight between two warring families in the nearby village of Ulandang.
The DepEd said it is coordinating with officials of the autonomous government in securing school communities, ensuring that protection measures are strengthened.
