Dennis Trillo thankful son Calix OK after 'total wreck' car accident

MANILA, Philippines — Actor Dennis Trillo issued a reminder to all drivers after his oldest son Calix Andreas Ho figured in a car accident.

Yesterday in a now-deleted Facebook post, Dennis shared that Calix — his son with ex-girlfriend Carlene Aguilar — had fallen asleep at the wheel earlier that morning.

The 18-year-old Calix ended up hitting a traffic island and flipping the car he was driving, resulting in a "total wreck" according to Dennis.

"Walang tinamaang ibang kotse o ibang tao, may pasa sa ulo, braso, at maga ang kaliwang kamay," the actor said. "Hindi lahat ganito kaswerte sa akisdente. Salamat po at ganun lang ang nangyari."

Dennis ended the post advising drivers not to hit the road if they are sleepy, also suggesting they can stop over first to stretch or nap.

He did not give further details about the accident such as where it took place or the model of the car used.

Calix alluded to an accident in an Instagram story, noting how he realized "life is one of the most precious things we will ever have, yet we sometimes forget its value until something unexpected happens."

"In just a blink, everything can change... but us people and opportunities can also disappear without warning," he continued. "That's why I learned we should never take anything for granted whether it's something big or small. Every second we are alive is a chance to love, grow, forgive, a chance to be better, appreciate the people around us, and praise God."

The young athlete called life "fragile, unpredictable" and something that people "should cherish deeply."

"Instead of always waiting for 'someday,' I learned to value the present, appreciate the small and big things, and live every moment to the fullest because tomorrow is never guaranteed," Calix ended.

Calix is the reigning Rookie of the Year and Men's Epee (Individual) gold medalist for fencing in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines as a student from the University of the Philippines.

Dennis is also a father to daughter Dylan Jade with wife Jennylyn Mercado, and a stepfather to Jennylyn's son Alex Jazz from her previous relationship with Patrick Garcia.
