MANILA, Philippines — Police have identified the dead woman inside a plastic storage box, which was found floating in a river in Basud, Camarines Norte on New Year’s Day.
The victim, Anelis Agocoy, 38, of Catarman town in Camiguin, was identified by her friend, who called the police on Monday night, according to Basud police chief Capt. Mark Armea.
A cousin of the victim confirmed her identity and provided additional information to investigators.
Citing testimonies of witnesses, Armea said probers have identified the killer of the victim. He declined to disclose more details so as not to jeopardize police operations.
The box was found by residents in a river in Barangay Pinagriwasan.
Video footage from a closed-circuit television camera showed the suspect arriving in a tricycle with the storage box on board, at a bus terminal in Calamba, Laguna on Thursday.
The video also showed the driver of the motorcycle assisting the suspect in getting the box off the tricycle.
