MANILA, Philippines — Rep. Leila de Lima (Mamamayang Liberal party-list) and Ramon Magsaysay Awardee Fr. Flavie Villanuevafiled libel complaints against the 18 former "Marines" and their lawyer Levi Baligod before the National Bureau of Investigation.

De Lima also said she is set to file perjury complaints against the former soldiers.

The complaints filed Monday, March 9, stem from allegations made by the group that De Lima was among the lawmakers who allegedly received suitcases of cash from fugitive former lawmaker Zaldy Co.

Baligod earlier admitted that De Lima’s name was mistakenly included in the affidavit submitted by the former "Marines."

He made the admission on February 26, saying the inclusion of De Lima was an error.

Third case tied to affidavit. The case marks the third complaint filed in connection with the allegations made by the 18 former soldiers.

On March 4, National Security Adviser Eduardo Año filed complaints for unlawful publication and unlawful utterances against former lawmaker Mike Defensor, Baligod and the former soldiers.

Former senator Antonio Trillanes IV also filed cyberlibel complaints against Baligod and Defensor on March 5 over similar claims.
