CEBU CITY – A fire broke out at the Cebu branch of the government-owned Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) on Sunday, March 23, 2025 causing an estimated P4.8 million in property damage.
The blaze was reported at 5:19 p.m. at the bank's location at Osmeña Boulevard corner P. Del Rosario Street in Barangay Kalubihan.
Firefighters from the Cebu City Fire Station arrived within three minutes and raised the alarm to the second level by 5:33 p.m.
The Bureau of Fire Protection said the fire affected around 60 square meters of the bank's premises. It was declared under control at 6:14 p.m. and fully extinguished by 6:25 p.m.
No casualties or injuries were reported. The fire, however, partially burned the structure, and two individuals who were in the building during the incident were unharmed.

The DBP branch, located beside the Social Security System (SSS) building, did not release an immediate statement on how the fire may impact its operations.
Fire Officer 1 Pedie Canillas is leading the investigation to determine the cause, while ground commander Superintendent Reynaldo Enoc oversaw the response operations.
Authorities continue to assess the full extent of the damage.
