AROUND 4,000 participants, composed of government workers and private individuals, joined the first Open Government Partnership (OGP) Fun Run, organized by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
The event, co-organized by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), is part of preparatory activities in the run-up to the Philippines' hosting of the OGP Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM) from Feb. 5-7, 2025.
The OGP APRM will bring together high-level government representatives, civil society leaders, policymakers, as well as global and regional partners from across the region to exchange insights, experiences, best practices, and progress on open government initiatives.

"I always say this: our ultimate goal why we engage in open [governance] is to increase the level of trust that our citizens have for our government," DBM Secretary and PH-OGP Chairman Amenah Pangandaman said in Filipino.

For their part, PRC Secretary-General Gwendolyn Pang and MMDA Chairman Romando Artes conveyed their gratitude to DBM for the partnership and collaboration for the success of the event.
